Project Designer (Architect 1 equivalent)
Location: Blue Hill, ME
Type: Full-time

Elliott Architects is seeking to expand our team. We maintain a collaborative, design-focused practice that prioritizes the role of site and environment to create architecture that is an appropriate synthesis of client, place, and time. A Project Designer at our office works closely with an Associate or Partner to collaborate on several projects at any one time. They will be involved in the documentation of building designs, creation of presentation drawings, and model building for client and team meetings, all while increasing their knowledge of design and construction through job site visits, in house critiques, and office discussions.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture.

  • Experience with design projects of moderate complexity.

 Design:

  • Think creatively and critically.

  • Contribute and communicate design ideas (engage with projects during the schematic design phase) and implement an established design framework through the production of drawings and models, both physical and digital.

  • Produce CAD drawings for residential construction projects and small institutional or commercial work.

  • Incorporate sustainability throughout the work.

  • Translate concepts into functional construction designs and details with the support of an Associate or Partner.

  • Advance personal knowledge and technical thinking through continuing education shared with the office.

 Technical Skills and project Management:

  • Basic knowledge of construction in wood, steel, and concrete; interior planning, and familiarity with a complete construction set of drawings, schedules, and specifications.

  • AutoCAD proficiency; REVIT proficiency is a plus.

  • 3D modeling and rendering proficiency in Sketchup or Rhino to convey schematic and design development-level concepts.

  • Presentation-related software proficiency: Photoshop and InDesign.

  • Physical modeling proficiency.

  • Able to adapt to working on multiple projects with differing and changing timelines.
